Oppo confirmed to launch Find X3 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G SoC. Launch scheduled for first quarter of 2021

Oppo has confirmed that its series of Find X3 flagship smartphones will run on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2021, and can be expected in February or March. It will bring Oppo into the race with companies like Xiaomi and OnePlus which has already announced its flagship to be based on Snapdragon 888 processor.

Henry Tang, Chief 5G Scientist at OPPO, proclaimed that the new Find X3 will have “enable elevated 5G performance and enhance technologies such as AI and imaging”.

The Snapdragon 888 processor comes with an inbuilt 5G modem which will help manufacturers to use more space in the circuit boards to use other components. It was highlighted by most companies and received positive feedback. It was noted to “deliver an extraordinary all-round experience”.

Snapdragon 888 chipset comes with a sixth-generation AI Engine using an improved Hexagon processor, enables better performance in apps usage and battery consumption. It also claims that the new chipset is capable of capturing about 120 photos per second at 12 MP resolution which is a major leap in photography, but it has to be seen how this is implemented in coming flagship smartphones.

The Oppo Find X3 series will succeed the Find X2 series from 2020 which were powered by Snapdragon 865 chipset, 65W fast charging, 120Hz display, and 48MP triple-camera setups. A 144Hz display, 64MP triple rear camera setup, and 8k video recording capability can be expected from the upcoming Oppo Find X3 series.
