Realme is set to be among the first handset makers to soon launch a smartphone with the newly launched gaming-focused octa-core chipset Snapdragon 720G SoC by Qualcomm. It was announced at the Qualcomm events.
Clocked at 2.3GHz, it is advertized for smooth gameplay, dynamic color range, immersive in-game environments, and high-quality synchronized sound with Qualcomm aptXTM adaptive. The chip is also capable of supporting 4K video recording and capturing 192-megapixel still images.
Madhav Sheth chief executive officer Realme India said, “We were the first brand to launch a smartphone-based on the Snapdragon 665 with the Realme 5 series in India. We are further excited about our upcoming smartphone launches in 2020 which will feature the brand-new Snapdragon 720G Mobile Platform to help meet the emerging consumer demand.”

The phone with 720G SoC will also have the capability to offer NavIC navigation system support. NavIC, another name for Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), is a navigation and positioning system developed by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) and is claimed to offer position accuracy of approximately 20 meters in primary service areas.
Although there is no official word on the device, it's rumored to be the successor of the Realme 5 series.
