Huawei has launched its first e-reader at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022 with an E-Ink display similar to what can be seen in Amazon’s Kindle lineup. The tablet also supports Huawei M-Pencil for writing notes and can convert handwritten text to digital text.
After Huawei was forced to drop Google’s services, because of the infamous US sanctions, the company has been doing its best to keep itself afloat with enticing launches. The new e-reader launch opens a new segment for the company to take on.
The device is powered by a Hexa-core processor, coupled with 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB internal storage, and a 3,625 mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast charging. The company states that the battery should last up to 28 days from a single charge.
Other features of the tablet include Wi-Fi 6 with 2 x 2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.2, OTG, Type-C, USB 2.0, Wireless screen projection, Gravity sensor, Hall sensor, Fingerprint sensor, Dual speakers, and 4 microphones.
The e-reader also comes with a 10.3-inch display with a resolution of 1872 x 1404 and a 227 PPI pixel density with an anti-glare coating which helps in low-light visibility. The screen-to-body ratio is an impressive 86.3%. The device runs on the company’s in-house operating system HarmonyOS 2.
The MatePad Paper will be available at €499 (US$ 558 / `42,060 approx.) in the Eurozone. M-Pencil and Folio case is also included out of the box.
